Clarisonic Mia 2 Evaluation

Two words. MIXED FEELINGS.

Before buying my Clarisonic I had looked up so many reviews, watched tutorials on Youtube, and tried my best to decide if this was worth the $150 I spent. All of the research I did said “yes”. The lady at the counter where I bought it even said “Oh you’re gonna just love it; it even gets rid of those pesky little milia seeds!”  Now, bear in mind that my few little milia seeds aren’t even that noticeable, but when she said that I basically threw my money at her. I even got a deal since I bought one of the last Christmas package sets they had – it came with a few extra goodies for free. I was sooo excited to try it, and thought I was hot stuff the first few times I used it, but, as time went buy, I became a little discouraged. Here’s why.

This is my Mia 2 (Don’t mind how orange it looks; I just washed my face)

It certainly is pretty, and very easy to use. But here’s where it gets a little fuzzy. Many of the reviews I read said that the Clarisonic was a miracle, that it cleared up all of their skin problems, blah, blah, blah. For me however, the Mia 2 did not eliminate my problems. It didn’t even remove my milia seeds, even after five months of using it! Even after using for that long, I still struggle with blackheads around my T-zone, and I still get pimples regularly every few weeks.

The thing is – this device cleans your skin like nobodies business. I know, I know, that sounds completely contradictory to what I just stated above, but it really does. I would choose this any day over bare hands or a washcloth. I firmly believe that it is much healthier for your skin if you use a device like this. So now onto the tricky part: Do I recommend this product to you guys?

I’m going to go with a YES simply because of two reasons.

1. It really does clean your skin phenomenally, and there are many different brush heads to suit many different skin types. Delicate, super-sensitive skin even? They have a brush head for that.

2. If you buy a holiday package like I did, you’ll get a lot of extra goodies like this.

Granted, the cleanser isn’t anything special, but it works nevertheless.

So all in all, I think this product does what it’s supposed to do, even if it didn’t “magically” transform my skin. What do you guys think? Any of you have a Clarisonic, and if so, do you like it?

Water Zombie/Dark Mermaid Tutorial

As some of you guys may know, my good friend Mr. Kaskay writes, directs, and produces amazing short films. His new project, “Rae” involves none other than me as the main protagonist, a shy schizophrenic girl whose lost two of her dearest friends. Today was one of our last all day film sessions, and one of the highlights were the “water zombies”, delusions of Rae’s that follow her around.

I came up with the makeup design, following a loose interpretation of this right here:

The makeup itself is actually pretty simple, and takes less than ten minutes! And, it can be used for a variety of different costumes/cosplay.

1. Prime your face and apply foundation and concealer; if you want to go for the “zombie” look, apply foundation two shades lighter than your normal skin tone. Don’t forget to blend into your neck!
2. Prime your eyelids.

Apply a warm pinkish red shade like the bottom left shade here to your crease, blending it up into your brow bone. With a slightly darker shade (most of the eyeshadow I used wasn’t mine) blend into just your crease. You can apply any left over color to the middle of your eyelids.
3. Taking a dark and sea-green blue, mix both colors together and sweep under your eyes, on the area where dark circles appear. Make sure to wipe up any fallout.
4. With a black liquid liner, line your top lash line, extending the line straight outwards a bit. On the lower lashline, start halfway and make a thicker line, connecting it to the upper line you just drew.
5. Apply mascara and fill in your brows as needed.
6. Here’s the fun part; find any old lace or fishnet fabric lying around, and secure it to your face wherever you want scales. With it firmly taut over your skin, apply your dark/seagreen blue mixture in patting motions over the desired area. Carefully remove the fabric to reveal shimmery scales!
7. Lastly, apply a black lipstick to complete the dark look. You’re done!

Glowing Prom Makeup

No matter if you’re going to prom soon, or just need a night out, Spring is the time to refresh your heavy Winter makeup with a lighter pallet. Tonight I’ll show you how I did my own prom makeup. Instead of going for a dark smokey eye, I opted for a more natural, bright look with shimmery purples and pinks!

This look takes only about 25 mins to complete, so let’s get started!

1. Of course, start out by prepping your face with a good primer, then apply foundation and concealer as needed. Set with a loose, translucent powder for an all-day wear without the cake-y look.
2. Next, I applied this gorgeous pale pink shade to my cheeks

One to two dabs blended out should be plenty.
3. Now’s the time to add your bronzer and hightlighter. For me, I wanted to keep it more natural and stick to just contouring my nose, but feel free to contour all you want! If you need a reference, I used highlighter on my cheekbones, my cupid’s bow, and the bridge of my nose.
4. Here’s where it gets cool; we’re going to use a blush on the eyes! First, prime your eyes, then apply a shade like “lollipop” to your entire lid

After that, apply a mixture of these two middle shades…

On the bottom of your lid, allowing some of the pink shade to peek out. Line your lids with a black gel liner, and slightly wing out the edges for a flirty look. Next curl your lashes and apply mascara/falsies.

5. Lastly, I applied a peachy pink balm and nude gloss on my lips to make them super pouty and cute!

And that’s it 🙂 Try this look out at your next event; people wont be able to stop staring – trust me!
