IPSY Glam Box November & December Highlights!

Long time no blog eh? I know, I know. I’m muy perezosa.

In honor of my favorite (and first) subscription box, I’ll be showcasing some of my faves from the last two months bags! If you would like to know more about Ipsy, check out my first post.

First we have the Galaxy Chic eyeshadow sample in Eclipse.

I was kind of afraid to even try it because of the intense color, but it’s really pretty! The color payoff is a subtle amethyst color, and it pairs great with neutrals.

Next is the Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon in Hot Damn!

New.Favorite.Red.Lip. It’s hard to find good shades of red since I’m so fair, but this works very well on my skin tone. Honestly, I believe it could look good on warm and cool tones alike!

Be a Bombshell The One Stick in Girl Crush

I’d never heard of this brand before Ipsy, but it’s starting to grow on me! This stick claims to work as an eyeshadow, blush, and lip color. I tried it as all but I prefer using it just as a cheek color. Still, the color is very cute and dainty, and this full size stick will last me a long time!

English Laundry Fragrance Samples

I’m not sure what the scents are called, but I quite like them! The name “English Laundry”, even sounds cozy and comfy! The scents remind me of a pleasant Spring day…(whatever a pleasant Spring day smells like ._.)

Lastly~ … Em Cosmetics Sheer Lip Stick in Violacious

Another purple thing they freaked me out with. But I was again, happy with how it actually looks on me. It’s buildable, so I’m able to keep it sheer. It’s actually quite flattering with fair skin and red hair, and I got a lot of complements ^_^ Thanks Ipsy!

So that’s my favorites from these last glam bags! If you liked this post, I might make more for my up-and-coming bags! If you would like to subscribe to Ipsy, please use my referral link! By referring people, you get points to use towards extra items! Ipsy Subscribe Link

5 New Ways to Use Your Makeup

Long time no see! Today I thought I’d show you guys a few tricks for using your makeup in new ways. You might never think it, but makeup doesn’t have to necessarily be used for its intended purpose only! I might have mentioned a trick or two before in earlier posts, but its what-evs.

1. Use an eyebrow pencil as an eyeliner. I used this one when I forgot to bring my makeup bag back after the last night of our Fall musical (it had both of my brown eyeliners in there). If you ever run into a situation like that, or are just feeling lazy, try it. Since most eyebrow pencils are more waxy, they actually tend to stay on your eyes longer. This can be especially helpful for those of you with oily eyelids, but the only downside is that it’s a little harder to draw a line with.

P.S- You can also try the reverse: using an eyeliner as a brow pencil. Just don’t forget to brush it out nicely with a brow brush.

2. Try your bronzer as an eyeshadow.
See a tutorial that calls for a brown shade of shadow? Just use your bronzer for a very natural look.

3. Have an eyeshadow you don’t ever use? Turn it into home-made nail polish!
All you have to do is take your shadow (I’d recommend using a loose powder formula to save time)
take some clear nail polish or varnish – whatever you have, and combine the two until you reach your desired color.
I tried this once with a soft pink eyeshadow and it turned out quite nicely!

4. Use a lip product as a blush.

You may have already heard that you could use a lipstick as a blush, but don’t stop there. You can use a balm for a more sheer wash of color, or you could even try a lip stain for a more powerful look. Just apply very sparingly, as most of the time a little will go a long way!

5. Try a white, pearl, or light gold eyeshadow as a highlighter. If you’re on a budget, don’t even buy a highlighter and just use any of these shades of eyeshadow you have. Apply across the apples of your cheeks, on your brow bow, in your inner corners and on your cupid’s bow for a dewy and youthful glow.

And now, number 6 for fun!
6. If you absolutely need a gel eyeliner but can’t find one, use a black mascara! Dip a detail brush into the tube and go for it!*

*But really, it can be done (only in emergencies of course!)

Hopefully that was helpful, and ttyl!

Stila “Not so Bare” Palette Mini Review and Swatches!

Yesterday I went to Ulta and got this lovely little palette by Stila . Out of all the high-end brands, I think Benefit and Stila are my top pick, mostly because of the adorable and eye-catching packaging, as you can see here.

Too cute right? I know. And only $20…which isn’t too bad for all that you get.

Here’s what the inside looks like.

You get 6 eyeshadows (four satin, two matte), a highlighting powder, and a lip/blush combo cream. I played around with the colors yesterday and today and they seem pretty good quality to me.

I swatched all of the colors for you all;

From top left; Sugar, Fawn, Barefoot and Buff (which is so light it’s imperceptible to my camera ._.) On the bottom we have Mink, Dolce, and Lily.

They’re basically all variants of browns and khaki’s with one black shade. The lip/blush cream is nice and blendable; only requiring a little bit for both cheeks. I like it better as a blush than a lip gloss definitely.

This would be the ideal little travel sized palette for those of you on the go, or a nice little daytime palette for anyone really. I’ll have to play with it a little more but I think this will end up being my next go-to palette!

Happy Sunday and God Bless!

Audrey Hepburn Inspired Look!

Well long time no see! With three AP classes this semester I was afraid I would never get to blog again XD! Thankfully my weekends are for the most part free, so I can reconnect with you all!

I’ve had a cold/bad allergies for the past few days so I’ve been a bit uncomfortable, but today I thought I’d play with my makeup and show you guys this look I promised earlier! It’s quite simple; as most of my creations are, but be warned. You are guaranteed to be noticed wearing this look, so if you’re a wall flower you might want to tone down the lip color or eyeliner!  If you enjoy the spotlight like me, you’ll get a kick out of this!

Oh! You might need this picture if you’re not familiar with dear Audrey. This is kind of her ‘signature look’

Ok! Let’s get started!

1st:  Apply your normal concealer and a matte powder or powder foundation to create a nice matte finish to the skin. I used NYX’s concealer wand and their “Stay Matte not Flat” foundation.

2nd:  With a brow pencil, fill in any sparse areas and lightly feather some color above your actual brow to make them appear thicker like Audrey’s. If you have a sharp arch, fill in the space to create a softer, more youthful straight line. I used NYX’s automatic eyebrow pencil in Dark Brown.

3rd: Prime your lids and your lower lash line. With a matte champagne and chestnut color…

Take the first color and place it across your upper lid. With a detail brush, take the darker shade and lightly line half of your lower lash line. These eyeshadows are from the Stila Not so Bare Pallet.

4th: Onto the signature eyeliner! With a gel or liquid liner black liner, thickly line your whole lid. Don’t worry about the wing just yet, just get a crisp, straight line. For the wing, don’t try to be dramatic – just follow the upward curve of your lower lash line and make a continuation of it. Try to make your wing as small as you can, and if you mess up, just wipe the mistake off with a q-tip or washcloth.

5th: With a volumizing mascara – I recommend this one by Estee Lauder… it’s so good! Oh, and here’s the Essence Liquid Liner I used…

Apply two generous coats to your upper lashes and one coat to your lower lashes.

6th: Alright, one more step…THE LIPS :D! You’ll need a bright, almost orange-y red lip liner for the ultimate matte finish.

Just swipe some color and blend out with your fingers or a lip brush. To increase the intensity, apply extra coats of color!

And you are finished!

Hope you really enjoy this tutorial, and have a great weekend!
