Smiling Eye Makeup Tutorial

This eye makeup is simple to achieve and makes your eyes look bigger and brighter, like they’re smiling!

You’ll need:

1. A white eyeshadow or eyeliner. I used my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil.

2. A medium toned matte brown eyeshadow. I used this shade from my Forever 21 Love and Beauty palette

3. A brown eyeliner, and your favorite mascara. I used these – NYX’s Doll Eye mascara and Ulta eyeliner

First, take your white eyeshadow and create a lower lower lash line by sweeping under your lower lashes all along your eye. Concentrate the color heaviest in the first half and the inner corner of your eye.

Next, with a detail brush, take a small amount of the brown eyeshadow and gently line the outer half of the false lower lash line you created. It should look like a shadow once you blended it out.

With your brown eyeliner, tight line your lashes to make them appear thicker and darker. Then with mascara, coat your top lashes only, skip the second coat, it looks more natural with one.

Tada! You’re done!

I’d recommend wearing this with no blush, maybe a little bronzer to contour, and a soft pink lip.

Hope you all enjoy smiling with your eyes!

Jordan Baker (The Great Gatsby) Inspired Makeup

Oh my gawd, I love Gatsby. That whole age intrigues me…. and I really liked Elizabeth Debicki’s makeup in Gatsby – she’s so adorable! Image

Her makeup looks difficult, but I assure you, it’s quite simple. You only need three eye shadow colors and you don’t even have to wear foundation. Awesome right? It’s all based on matte eye’s, lips, and cheeks.

Here’s how to get it!
1. Prep your face with a good primer; I recommend Too Faced’s Primed and Pore-less.

 2. Apply your favorite medium to high coverage concealer over any dark spots, pimples, or under eye bags. You want to give the illusion of perfect skin (without much product on it)

3. Set with a translucent, matte powder. Then, sweep a matte, plum blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Don’t be afraid to use a color that looks like your grandma would wear it; that’s kinda what we’re going for (albeit, in a fashionable way)

4. Shape dem eyebrows!

excuse the Paint drawing…follow this template 🙂 and PS; if you don’t have a brow pen or pencil, use an eyeliner and brush it out. (That’s what I do)

5. With a lid primer, PLEASE USE A PRIMER…please…. prep your lids. Here’s what I used, it’s pretty great

Now you can apply your three eye shadow colors.

This is one of my favorite palletes; the NYX smokey look box.

With the black, apply all over the second and third “third” of your lid, all the way to the crease. Leave the first third open and apply the white color to open up your eyes. Take a dab of black and line your lower lash line. Taking the purple, apply to the center of your lids for depth.

Now you can tight line under your lashes with a black pencil, and line your water line lightly too.

Apply a volumizing mascara, I used a sample I got from Smashbox. Apply to upper and lower lids.

6. Use a dark cherry lip liner, or in my case, an eyeliner in that color.

Hey… I didn’t realize it till I got home XD

Anyway, define your cupids bow, then fill in your lips. You can blend it out with your fingers or a lip brush.

And Walah! You are Jordan Baker! If you have the hair, kudos to you, you could be her twin.

Enjoy this look! A Daisy Buchanan look is coming soon!

Trendy Bold Eyeliner Look Made Easy!

I love watching TV shows and trying to emulate the character’s makeup. Call it a hobby.

Well anyway – one look in particular struck me (maybe because the character’s name is Clare like me…ok yes that’s why) After seeing her close up, I deducted the whole look was in the eye makeup.  Jet black eyeliner strategically placed to heighten and stylize the eye’s natural shape while also making the eye appear larger. Here’s what it looks like completed.

To get this look, first focus on making your skin look as flawless and pretty as you can. I’d recommend a good primer, followed by NYX’s photogenic foundation and concealer in your shade.

Skip the blush, although if you want you can use a matte bronzer (please no shimmer) to contour your cheekbones and nose.

Now onto the eyeliner. It’s basically four steps with the fourth being optional. Here’s thisImage

1. Staying as close to the lash line as possible, trace your lid with liquid liner. Following how your lower lid would continue to go up, flick the eyeliner out for a small wing. Do not attempt this with a kohl or pencil eyeliner. They go on too thick and smudge too easily.

2. With the same liner, lightly line the first third of your lower lid.

3. Now line the last third, leaving the middle bare. If you want to widen your eyes even more, apply a white eyeliner on your rim.

It’s hard to tell on the picture but the fourth step is continuing the downward motion on the left side of your upper lid and flicking a bit of liner out, kind of like Ancient Egyptian looking eyeliner.

Finish with mascara and a nude lip. Keeping your face and lips toned down balances the look and guarantees no weird looks from people ._.

There you have it, hope you have fun with this look! I know I do!
