Losing Innocence

Hey guys, while I’m out here recovering from a five mile uphill hike with my AP bio class, I came across this wonderful essay my friend wrote. Please take 3 minutes to read it and ponder. Have some brain food.


This is a narrative essay I wrote last year for class. Looking back on it, I still feel the same way, and I’m going through similar things. I think we all feel this way at one point or another. 

The loss of innocence is inevitable in a maturing mind, yet it provides a unique outlook on a world that is still in the process of maturing itself.  I’m still a giddy, little kid deep inside.  I love cake and ice cream more than anybody, every once and a while, I still watch “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?” when it comes on television, and I’d rather get involved in a competitive game of hide-and-seek than anything.  Life is an unending series of unsuspected incidents that surprise and frighten.  It pushes the purity to the back of the closet and sets the monster under the bed on center stage, lurking around the…
